3 Joppa, MD Joppa, MD Full-time Full-time $17 an hour $17 an hour VET TECH's Welcome to Apply Job Summary The ACC Specialist Handler is responsible for the supervision, control and management of daycare/boarding dogs and ensuring the safety for individual care dogs (ACC).
Additionally, ACC Specialist Handler are responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the play area used, area of the facility as assigned, the feeding as scheduled of dogs in our care, applying medication to the dogs on a timely manner and the assistance in on-the-job training of new staff members.
ACC Specialist Handler works under the supervision of the Front of House Supervisor.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Keeping the play area clean and poop free.
Disinfect facility and yards.
Wash and clean kennel and crates.
Maintain a clear and well-kept facility.
Wash and fold laundry.
(towels, blankets, etc) Monitor social play in play yards.
Monitor the health dogs with special conditions such as seizures, blind, deaf, geriatric, paralyzed, special medication administration, etc.
Learn names and common behaviors of each dog and manage them accordingly.
Use basic obedience commands for manners reminders and dog handling.
Detect and discourage overly excited, aggressive, or inappropriate behavior.
Private walk dogs for certain dogs individually when needed.
Administer medication as instructed by dog owners or veterinarian.
Able to transport dogs to veterinarian if/when necessary.
Perform enrichments and one on ones with dogs individually.
Make sure proper handoff to next ACC Specialist Handler personnel is perform following your shift.
Ensure dogs are safe when exercising and/or socializing during playtime.
Report issues or bad behavior to Shift Leader/Front of House Supervisor/Kennel Supervisor.
Complete training in proper dog handling course (PackPro) as outlined in the employee manual and/or on the job training.
Reward dogs for good behavior.
Discourage jumping, pulling on leash, overly excited, barking, growling, aggression, etc.
Keep accurate records.
Feed dogs and keep them healthy.
Learn how to play with dogs in a way that stimulates them and be part of a fun, dynamic group of dogs.
Provide essential support to senior dogs, which includes walking, feeding, cleaning, and exercising.
Assist in checking in and out clients during peak time.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions Ability to use a PC, mobile device, and/or other electronics with our BFFE software systems.
Complete all resort housekeeping functions (i.
e.
, dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, cleaning kennels, sanitizing food bowls etc.
).
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
High energy, positive attitude, and excellent customer service skills.
Interact productively with co-workers and function well in a team environment.
Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.
Valid driver's license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation; must be able to travel and assist with transporting dogs, when necessary, between locations or to the veterinarian.
Availability Work weekends, evenings, and holidays; early morning and late evening shifts a possibility.
Holidays are mandatory.
Must be available with reliable transportation.
Must be flexible regarding shifts available.
Must be able to work double shifts 7:
00am -6:
30pm when necessary.
Full time or part time.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions for approximately 4
hours per day year-round.
The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Physical/Mental Job Requirements Must be able to stand walk and walk for prolonged periods without a break.
Able to lift 50-60 pounds daily.
Work with cleaning chemicals safely Must have strong verbal communication with dogs and humans.
Must have strong written communication skills.
Must be able to hear to actively listen on both the telephone and in person.
Must be able to drive a personal vehicle to transport dogs in emergent situations.
Must be able to read and proofread.
Must be able to utilize a telephone and be in possession of good telephone communication skills.
Must be able to use the computer to communicate, input data.
Must be able to use a shovel, broom, and other tools to complete job requirements.

Active listening skills Minimum Requirements High School Graduate or GED Veterinarian Technician experience is preferred.

1 year of professional dog kennel experience is preferred.
1 year of dog handling experience is preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
